Screen customization toolkit

Everything in one download.

Windows x64 utility · RAR archive · 23.9 MB
Image converter, USB upload tool and instructions.

Download for Windows

Opens Google Drive in a new tab. Download the entire archive, then extract it before opening any tools.

01 / Get ready

Before you begin

This guide covers updating your DUO screen image. You may see the internal model name AD4637 in the included instructions.

A Windows computer

The package includes an x64 Windows upload tool. Have an app that can extract RAR archives. A native Mac or mobile version is not included.

Your DUO & USB cable

Use a USB cable that supports data transfer. Start with your DUO switched off, and keep the USB connection stable during the upload.

Your image

Choose a BMP, JPG, JPEG or PNG file. Keep a backup of your original artwork and the downloaded package before replacing the sample image.

What is inside the download?
logo2hex.exeConverts your image into the logo.hex file used by the upload tool.
ATKDfuTool_x64.exeLoads the generated file and transfers it to your DUO over USB.
logo.jpg / logo.hexIncluded sample files. Generate a fresh logo.hex when using your own artwork.
升级步骤.txtThe original Chinese instructions. The English walkthrough is below.

02 / Make it yours

Customize your screen, step by step.

Follow the steps in order. Button labels and screen messages below match the supplied tools and device instructions.

  1. Download and extract the complete package

Use the download button above, then extract the RAR archive to a folder on your Windows computer. Open the inner logo tool folder that contains both .exe programs.

Check: both programs and the instruction file are in the same extracted folder.

  2. Prepare and name your image

Copy your artwork into that folder. Rename the base filename to logo, keeping its supported extension: logo.bmp, logo.jpg, logo.jpeg or logo.png. Move the sample image out of the working folder so only your intended logo image remains.

Show file extensions in Windows File Explorer before renaming. Changing an extension does not convert an image to a different format.

  3. Convert the image to logo.hex

Run logo2hex.exe. The converter generates logo.hex in the same folder.

Check: the file exists and its modified time reflects your latest conversion. Do not continue with an old sample file.

  4. Connect your DUO and enter update mode

With your DUO switched off, connect it to the computer using USB. Press the + button five times, followed by the − button twice.

Check: the DUO screen displays USB UPDATA LOGO before you continue.

  5. Open the upload tool and load your file

Run ATKDfuTool_x64.exe. Click OPEN, then select the logo.hex you just generated from your working folder.

Choose the generated HEX file here, rather than the original JPG, PNG or BMP image.

  6. Upload the screen image

Click the tool’s Dowmload button (spelled this way in the supplied instructions). Keep the device connected and wait for the operation to finish.

    About the red completion message

The supplied instructions say the lower status area turns red when the update is complete and that In application programming read failed can be ignored at this point in this specific logo-update workflow. This does not mean every red error is a success. If you see a different message or the process stops early, contact support.

  7. Exit update mode and check your screen

After the upload has finished, press and hold the DUO power button to exit update mode. Turn it on and check that your new image appears as expected.

Done: your own image is visible. If it is missing or incorrect, check the troubleshooting section before trying again.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Start with the point where your process stopped. For an unexpected error, save the exact message or a screenshot for support.

I cannot download or extract the archive.

Open the Google Drive link in a regular browser and download the complete file. If Drive asks for access or reports a download limit, contact us. If extraction fails, download the archive again and use an app that supports RAR. Open the programs from the extracted folder, rather than from inside the archive.

Can I use a Mac, iPhone or Android phone?

This package contains Windows .exe programs, including an x64 upload tool. It does not include a native macOS, iOS or Android version. Use a compatible Windows computer; contact support if you are unsure about your setup.

Which image formats and dimensions should I use?

The included instructions list BMP, JPG, JPEG and PNG, with no fixed input dimensions. GIF and video are not listed as supported input formats. Use a clear image with a simple composition and check the final appearance on the device.

Name the file logo while keeping the correct extension. Avoid names such as logo.png.jpg.

The converter did not create a new logo.hex file.

Confirm that your image is in the same extracted folder as logo2hex.exe, that its base filename is logo, and that it is saved in one of the supported formats. Check the HEX file’s modified time so you do not mistake the included sample for your new conversion. If the converter reports an error, send the message and your image format to support.

My DUO does not show USB UPDATA LOGO.

Start with the DUO switched off and USB connected. Press + five times, then − twice, in that order. If the update-mode message still does not appear, stop and contact support with a photo of the screen and your device model.

The computer or upload tool does not detect my DUO.

Check for USB UPDATA LOGO on the screen and confirm that your cable supports data transfer. Before starting an upload, try another data cable or a direct USB port on the computer. Keep the connection in place while a transfer is running.

If Windows requests a driver or the device remains undetected, contact us for the correct next step. Do not install unrelated drivers or change device settings at random.

Does the red “In application programming read failed” message mean failure?

For this specific logo-update package, the supplied instructions identify a red status area with that exact message after the upload as an expected completion state. Once the operation has finished, hold the power button to exit update mode and check your image.

If the image has not changed, the transfer was interrupted, or you see another error, do not assume it succeeded. Send the exact message to support.

The old image is still showing, or my new image looks wrong.

Check that you converted your intended image, then loaded the newly generated logo.hex rather than the included sample. Confirm that the upload finished and that you exited update mode. If the artwork is hard to read, simplify the design and use a clearer source image. Contact support if the screen stays blank or the result remains incorrect.

Windows shows a security warning or blocks a program.

Download only through the link on this page and extract the complete package. If Windows blocks a tool, keep the warning visible or take a screenshot and contact support for verification. Do not disable your security protection to proceed.

Can I use this package to update firmware or another machine?

This page covers the DUO screen-logo procedure. Use the generated logo.hex for that purpose. For firmware, another model, charging, cleaning, repairs or other operating instructions, contact BraveStar support for the correct model-specific guidance.
